Sunday Funday Rolls Into Not-So-Fun Monday (Days 10 & 11)

Woo Hoo! Sunday Funday is my favorite day of the week! We often take time on Sundays to relax, catch up with friends, hit the pool or the beach, or just generally enjoy a little bit of life here in Placencia. Since I have decided to give myself one "free" day each week, I was looking forward to not forcing myself to do some kind of dreaded exercise. Weird thing was, when I got up, I almost felt like going for a walk anyway. That's strange for me, but I managed to resist that urge and put my swimsuit on instead!

Of course I had to hop on the scale first. Later, lazing around the pool, chatting with friends and enjoying a few cocktails made for a lovely day and a nice break from pushing myself so hard and from the disappointing fact that my scale is not showing many positive results.

Monday had me up way too damn early at 6:15 a.m. thanks to some construction noise next door, so I strapped my Nikes on, grabbed the dog, and headed out for a walk to sweat off my frustration with not getting enough sleep. We walked to the pier and back again, but I was still too angry about being so awakened at such an ungodly hour to enjoy much of the beauty. I am not a morning person, which is difficult in a village where most people like to do their work before the sun gets too hot!

When I returned from my walk and cooled down, I had to get showered and ready to go. We finally had our first official interview appointment for our residency application scheduled, and had to catch the Hokey Pokey Water Taxi to head over to Independence Village.

Of course, I had to jump on the scale first, and here's the result. I was pleasantly surprised, since I had not only had cocktails on Sunday, but also a cheeseburger for lunch and a tuna sandwich for dinner, something I usually deny myself. I try to limit breads in my diet since I figured out that bread and flour products were causing me problems with frequent heartburn. Once I cut out the bread, my heartburn issue disappeared. I paid for my bad choices on Sunday all day on Monday by having to walk around in the hot sun with heartburn. And our appointment that was supposed to take an hour or two at most ended up costing us over six hours of our day. We didn't get home until it was nearly dark.

Ah, well, that's life in Belize, especially on a Monday, and tomorrow's another day!
